Traveling Expectations

Well I am headed out of town for work and a lot of time I decide on what hair products to pack based on my destination. I go to Austin so much that I realize the water there isn't as soft so there is no need in packing my entire arsenal! So for this trip I packed my spray bottle and my leave in. I decided to rock my wig, and hopefully when I get back on Wednesday night my hair will be ready for a good DCing. Happy Growing ladies!

Henna

I did an overnight hot oil treatment with Dabur Pure Indian Mustard Oil, and applied my Henna. I was applying Henna every week but I believe it was loosening my curl pattern, so I have gone back to using it once a month. My hair loves the conditioning benefits, and I need the color benefits for my gray hairs.  I had some Henna frozen  I mixed about a month ago, so I let it thaw and I put it on my hair for about 3 hours.

I rinsed my Henna and DC with Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner, I put honey in it.  I used my heat hat, and sat for 45 minutes. Then I took off my heat hat, applied Biotin B- Complex Conditioner on top on my DC and let it cool for 15 mins. Then I rinsed the conditioners and applied my Kimmie tube modified leave in. I sealed my hair with my JBCO and EVOL mix. I put four plaits in my hair, and put on my silk scarf. I have to say my hair journey would not have gone as smooth if I did not have my favorite Hercules Sagemann comb! It is seamless and it has never pulled a hair out. Order one online @ www.hotcombs.net/.../Hercules-Sagemann, the comb is called Magic Star Jumbo Rake, it cost $17.50. I promise you will love it!

Staple Products March 2012

Since September 2009, I have tried a lot of products, and I must admit I was a product junkie. However what I learned from using all those products was how they actually worked and in some cases did not work on MY hair. Let me stress MY hair because I would get so excited when I read how a product made someones hair grow, I would rush out and buy it, or purchase it online because in West Texas your product choices are slim. Don't get me wrong, we have Sally's Beauty Supply, and I definitely have my discount card :-)) and we a couple of stores that sale Ethnic products, but most of the products are out of date. I mean it is terrible when you have dust on your product, and shelves! So after all that trial and error, as well as, lurking in the shadows of blogs like From Short to Long, Kimmietube, and Hairscapades I found my staple products!

Curls Unleased- New Product

Well tonight, 4/2/2012, I ran on my treadmill for 61.44 mins, 813 calories, and 4 miles. I feel good about my workout routine. I decided to use a new product to cowash with, I picked it up at Walgreens. I think I'm going to use it as my cowash after my workouts. I'll keep you posted on how it makes my hair feel. Pick this product up and tell me what you think. I used my Kimmie-tube leaven version and sealed with JBCO. I decided to braid my hair into three sections. I am going to try the same method as Hairscapades described to grow out my nape. Happy Growing Ladies!

Pictures

This picture is from September 2009, when I started my healthy hair journey. May hair was really damaged and broken off at the top. I was addicted to the flat iron, and it showed.

This picture is from April 2011. This was the first time I applied heat to my hair since I stopped in Sept. 2009. I applied heat for a length check. This was the last time I applied heat to my hair, and I will apply heat again in May, 2012.

These are my start pictures for March 31,2012 for the Hairscapades Grow Out Challenge. My right and left side both measure 6 on my T, and the rear view measures 8. My goal for this challenge is to get my hair to be Full Mid Back Length when straight, and I am trying to add some thickness.

My weight goal for this 6 months is to maintain between 125-130 pounds.

GOC- Sequel on Hairscapedes

Hello All:

I have decided to join a Grow Out Challenge on Hairscapades. Please google her site, and join. She has so much information to share. I have been following her blog for a while because I thought that she and I had the same hair type. When I saw that she was going to start a new GOC, I was so excited. I am going to post my daily hair and exercise activities so I can hold myself accountable. If you have any suggetions, please feel free to let me know.

Hair- Today I did a protein treatment with Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment. I deep conditioned with Vatika Deep Conditioner for 1 hour with heat. I applied my version of Kimmie-Tube leave in, and put my hair in two braides.

Exercise- I ran on my treadmill for 64.33 minutes, 4.003 miles, and 629.1 calories.

Filtered Shower Head

I live in West Texas and the water is so hard. I have read on the Long Hair Care Forum- (join it today!) that a Filtered Shower Head can help with hair growth. So I went out and purchased the Sprit Showers Filtered Showerhead- $27.00 at Lowes Home Improvement. I hope that it will help retain softer hair and skin. I really need to take some before and after pictures. I have been wearing a wig as my protective style since November I really see some hair growth. I will take some pictures of my braids when I get out the shower tonight. They are a week old but I guess you gotta start somewhere.

I purchased the combs that my idol- From Short To Long recommended on her blog, and I purchased the brush from Sallys' also. I wish I was more disciplined with the pictures, I think that is why I have followed her so faithfully. Well happy growing ladies.
